We had a preview of Chris’s beautiful workbench last month, and this month Chris showed us where he got his inspiration from – Robert Lang’s 21st Century Workbench.

Click on the picture below to see how to buy the plans at a very reasonable price.

And then – another excellent workbench from Brian! Click on the picture below for Brian’s economic workbench (with a costing of various options – excellent value!)

Members were then given practical demonstrations of 2 different methods for cutting tapers on the Workcentre. Brian used a Taper Jig from Carbatec, and Chris used his L-Jig coupled with an electronic angle finder.

Craig then showed us a simple idea for a plant stand

And Chris finished an action packed night with a list of his favourite websites

We had a great night looking at that essential component of any workshop – the woodworking bench.

A number of members gave presentations on their benches, and why they liked them –
functionality, accessibility, stability, suitability, affordability and how good they looked!

It’s been 20 years since the first meeting of the Triton Owners’ Club of the ACT – 20 years of fun, inspiration, friendship, learning and woodwork!

Click on the original invitation and agenda for the very first meeting above,
and below is a photo of our beautiful 10th anniversary cake

Our 20th anniversary celebrations were held at the Bungendore Wood Works, where we were greeted by our amazing host David who took us on an initial tour of the Gallery

This was followed by great food and great discussion at the Café Wood Works

And then a demonstration by our resident expert David of finishing techniques

And a tour of the upstairs gallery – what an amazing king post!

And back to the Café for celebratory cake

The cake was so delicious we ate it before anyone remembered to take a picture of it! It was a beautiful Triton workbench complete with wood shavings – oh well, maybe we’ll remember next time

We had such a great time!

Thank you so much to David and all his staff – and a special thank you to the lovely people in the Café who looked after us so well
